Qin Shi Huang

Who was Qin Shi Huang?

Qin Shi Huang was called the first emperor of China and his normal name was YingZheng. He was born in Hanan in the late Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770-256 BC)

What did he do as a leader of China?

- Examine his personality?

Qin Shi Huang was infamous for his cruelty. He enforced strict laws and showed no mercy. A person who broke the law would be executed, along with his entire family. Many scholars who opposed Qin Shi Huang's new laws will be killed.

- Examine his method of government?

Qin Shi Huang wanted to bring China under a single, central rule. Therefore, he removed most of the power of the feudal shi. He did this by tearing down their forts and taking away their lands.

- Examine how he controlled his people?

Qin Shi Huang controlled his people by being legalistic and only believed in obedience to laws and having cruel punishment for those who disobeyed.

- Examine what he did with the Great Wall of China?

When Qin Shi Huang join the Great Wall of China, then he started to make the Great Wall of China    , bigger, stronger and unified. (He build the Great Wall of China between 220-206 BC)

Was Qin Shi Huang a good leader of Ancient China? Why do you think so?

I think Qin Shi Huang is a bad leader as he killed a bunch of peoples just for the Great Wall of China. He also think that the economy was more important than the peoples. In conclusion, i think he was a cruel leader.
